Peach Cobbler

I found this recipe years ago and am now copying it here from our family cookbook binder. Enjoy!


Peach Cobbler
1 stick butter 
¾ cup flour 
Pinch of salt 
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. baking powder
3/4 cup milk
2 cups fruit, with juice (one lg can peaches)  

Heat oven to 300 degrees.  Melt margarine in square baking dish in oven.  In a separate bowl, mix flour, salt, sugar, baking powder and milk together until smooth.  Pour batter over melted butter in square dish, DO NOT STIR.  Add fruit, DO NOT STIR.  Bake for 1 hour or until top is golden brown.  Serve warm with vanilla ice cream, if desired.
