Easy Pumpkin Dump Cake

Nothing says easy like a dump cake that uses a cake mix! Everyone loved this dessert, and it was really simple.

Easy Pumpkin Dump Cake
Ingredients:
  • 1 15oz can pumpkin puree
  • 1 12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 box spice cake mix
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) butter, melted
Directions:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Mix your pumpkin, evaporated milk, sugar, eggs, cinnamon and salt together until smooth.
  3. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan.
  4. Sprinkle your cake mix over the top of the pumpkin layer.
  5. Pour your melted butter over the cake mix layer evenly.
  6. Bake at 350 degrees for about 45-55 minutes or until the top is golden and there is a slight jiggle to the dish.
  7. Serve with whipped topping, if desired.
Marsha's Notes:
The original recipe said to bake for an hour. My oven is a convection, so I checked it at 45 minutes and it was pretty well done. Because this was my first time making it, I didn't want it to be raw in the middle, so I went ahead and split the difference between 45 minutes and an hour and baked it for another 8 minutes, for a total of 53 minutes. That ended up being fine (I worried it was just a tad over done), but next time I think I will take it out of the oven at 50 minutes instead.
