Spaghetti Sauce

I found this recipe years ago and am now copying it here from our family cookbook binder. Enjoy!

Spaghetti Sauce
2 cups tomato juice*
½ tsp. sugar
½ tsp. oregano
½ tsp. basil
¼ tsp. thyme
pinch of salt and pepper
bay leaf
1/2 tsp minced garlic
1 lb. cooked hamburger, drained

*Take a large bowl of fresh tomatoes (friends and family will give me a grocery bag, zip lock bag, or bucket full of tomatoes, so I am not sure how many… 10-15?), wash, stem, and run through a mill to remove seeds and skins.  I typically ended up with about 2 cups of juice.

Mix all ingredients together, except hamburger.  Cook on the stove over medium heat until sauce reduces and become thick enough for sauce.  Add hamburger and serve over noodles.
