Peanut Blossoms

I found this recipe years ago and am now copying it here from our family cookbook binder. Enjoy!

Peanut Blossoms

1 ¾ cups flour                                                       

1 tsp. soda                                                             

½ tsp. salt                                                                 

½ cup sugar                                                             

½ cup brown sugar                                                 

48 milk chocolate candy kisses

1/2 cup shortening

1/2 cup peanut butter

1 egg

2 Tbl milk

1 tsp vanilla

Combine all ingredients (except kisses).  Mix slowly until dough forms.  Shape into balls and roll in sugar.  Bake on un-greased sheet at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.  Top each cookie immediately with candy kisses, press down.
