Homemade Sugar Cubes

Did you know you can make your own sugar cubes? And with a few cute silicone molds and some drops of food coloring, you can make festive seasonal sugar cubes?

Homemade Sugar Cubes

  • 1 cup sugar, or sugar free substitute (i.e. Truvia Sweet Complete GRANULATED sweetener)
  • 1 tsp. water
  • optional food coloring

Stir together the sugar and water until everything is evenly distributed. Add any food coloring your desire (too many drops can water down your sugar mixture, so you can always add more sugar if needed). Press the mixture into your molds and let sit to dry overnight or for about 24 hours (or until dry). Store in an airtight container.

You can make a zero-calorie sugar-free option. Just be sure your sugar substitute is in a granulated form. Otherwise, the instructions are the same.

For Christmas, I made snowflake and penguin cubes.

Fine details from the mold can get lost, especially with pure white cubes.

Here is a close up of the penguin with his hat and scarf for winter.
