Fruit Salad

Maybe some day I will try a fruit salad recipe that actually calls for a dressing of some kind (I've seen ones with honey, or mint...), but until then, I wanted to document for my boys how I made fruit salad in the summer, which is basically just cut-up fruit in a nice variety of colors.

Marsha's Fruit Salad

Ingredients:

(any color fruit you like, served in bite-sized pieces... a typical mix for me is...)

  • Strawberries
  • Cantaloupe
  • Grapes (green, red or both)
  • Pineapple
  • Kiwi
  • Apple (whatever kind you like)

Directions:

Wash, cut, and prepare your fruit, then put it all together in a bowl and serve.

Marsha's Notes:

My only tips are to not add the strawberries until you are ready to eat the salad because they bleed red and stain the other fruits, and bananas tend to turn brown and get smashed by the other fruits, so I avoid them as well.

I just go for a rainbow of colors with fruits that aren't too soft or mushy to hold up to tossing everything together in the salad. If green grapes don't look good when I am buying, I might do kiwi or a green-skinned apple or honeydew melon instead. If the strawberries don't look good, then I might do a red-skinned apple or red grapes instead. Etc.
